Messy Mondays FAQs

Messy Mondays: Frequently Asked Questions

Is my baby too young to go to Messy Mondays?

Babies of all ages are welcome to attend Messy Mondays. The activities are designed to enrich children’s creativity and awareness of the visual world around them while also helping to develop fine motor skills. Even the smallest babies will enjoy the songs and getting their hands messy with paint.

Are the materials safe for small children?

All of the paints and materials used in Messy Mondays are safe and non-toxic. We do require that the accompanying adult supervises their child at all times and works with them on their art project. Some use of scissors and other materials may be required to complete art projects, which we ask the accompanying adult to carry out.

I have a three-year-old and an 18-month old. Which would be the best session for them both to attend?

You are welcome to attend either session with both of your children. Come along to whichever one works best time-wise for you: the first session is 9.30am to 10.30am, the second session is 10.45am to 11.45am. Please note that the per-child price is $10 each ($8 Friends of the Gallery).

Can my partner and I bring our child together? How much would this cost?

Two adults are welcome to bring one child to Messy Mondays together. This would be the standard cost of $10 for the child ($8 Friends of the Gallery), including a complimentary tea or coffee from the Cafe for one adult. If the additional adult would like a tea or coffee, they will need to purchase this from the Cafe.

Is food available at the Art Gallery?

The accompanying adult receives a complimentary tea or coffee from our Cafe. We also sell a range of biscuits, cheese platters, and soft drinks which you can purchase with cash or card.

Can I swap my complimentary tea/coffee for a biscuit?

Sorry, the tea or coffee is provided as a complimentary addition for one parent accompanying a child to Messy Mondays. There is no cash or other alternative.

I can't attend on Mondays. Do you have a similar program on different days?

Yes, during the school holidays we have Messy Mornings on Thursdays at the same times (9.30am to 10.30am, and 10.45am to 11.45am). Please check our website or call the Art Gallery on 07 4936 8248 for further details and dates.
