School's Out Art Mash-Up: Quirky Book Making for 6 to 10-year-olds

Curious-house-book.jpg

Children are naturally creative, but as they get older and more focused on schoolwork and exams, they have less opportunity to get messy, get inventive, or express themselves through art.

Our two-hour School's Out Art Mash-Ups will give them the perfect break from homework and allow them to have fun by experimenting with pottery and letting their imaginations run wild. There is something to suit every inquisitive and creative mind.

In this workshop, young people will participate in a creative journey into mixed media and collage techniques as they create their quirky house book.

Participants are invited to bring a photograph of themselves, their family or their pets. These will be photocopied on the day and the photocopies will be used for image transferring during the workshop.

Participants will play with a range of techniques, including cling wrap texturing, tape transferring, collaging, mark making with walnut ink, wax transferring, and printing with stencils and foam stamps. They will bind their creations together using twigs and an easy side-binding technique.

Their completed art piece will be a curious and quirky house-shaped book.
