Participants in the afternoon Exploring Acrylic Silhouettes workshop will create a similar style of silhouette painting, while considering more advanced concepts and themes in the creation of their artwork.

Young artists will learn how to paint trees, including palm trees and local flora, reflections and ripples on water, and contrasting skylines with the sunset and clouds. They will explore where to place the horizon and how to create distance and perspective, building up the background of their artwork before commencing on the foreground.

Silhouette shapes of birds and animals will contrast beautifully against the sunset water of the lagoon and the sky. As part of the workshop, participants will have the opportunity to study photographs of flora and fauna before drawing these silhouettes into their own artworks. Templates will also be available for use if preferred.

Participants will be able to take home this exciting and interesting artwork project.

About the Tutor

Gail Meyer had a country upbringing that gave her a great opportunity to see and appreciate much colour, texture and beauty in nature. Always aware of shapes and shades in her surroundings, Gail began painting at an early age.

As a long standing member of Central Queensland Contemporary Artists, Gail has been involved in many art exhibitions locally and regionally.  She has enjoyed and valued facilitating many art workshops.

Gail paints not just the reality of the subject, but is more interested in her translation and expression of the image and creating an artwork that is exciting and meaningful.

Using pastel, paints, inks or mixed media is for Gail a natural story-telling process to share an experience or a feeling with others.
