Discover the fundamentals of leathersmithing, be creative and learn the basic steps and tool applications you need to start working with leather. You will use these skills to create a beautiful yet functional leather clutch or wallet that will hold a variety of items.

Work with vegetable-tanned leathers, learn various steps and techniques on moisture content, how to use leather craft tools to create interesting patterns, how to colour your project, and then finish the edges using Kangaroo leather lace. You will have the choice of using one of two different lace techniques, adding your personal touch.

This one-day workshop will include a range of techniques, including: cutting, creative stamping, how to colour, finishing edges, lacing, as well as setting rivets, snaps and other hardware.

Your project will have a unique and personal touch with your own creative style. Participants are encouraged to develop their individual style and are assisted with experimenting and exploring the creative potential of leather.

No previous experience is required. All tools and equipment will be supplied for students to use during the workshop. Please bring your own lunch.

Participants of this workshop can choose whether to create a clutch with a zipper fastener or a popper fastener.
