Fluid Art on Canvas

Sunday, 23 June 2019 | 11:00 AM to 01:00 PM

Due to popular demand for a return of our Acrylic Pour and More workshops, Fluid Art on Canvas is acrylic pouring but with bigger canvases, new colours and new techniques.

Would you like to learn how to create spontaneous and striking acrylic paintings? You will learn the ingredients and mixing methods required to make the perfect acrylic pour. Be surprised by its ability to loosen up your art, fascinate you with its ease and surprise you with its variations.

Pouring is completely different from other forms of acrylic art. It is a fascinating process that will take you into another world as you watch your chosen colours unfold!

You can make these gorgeous abstract paintings to show your friends and family, hang in your home, or give as gifts. Our Fluid Art workshop will lead you into the beautiful world of acrylic pouring. With the lapping Fitzroy River as inspiration, you will create an artwork that ebbs and flows on your canvas.

You will consider how to use negative space in your artwork and discover how to let the paint flow into wonderful art with no drawing or painting skills necessary. The only requirement is a spirit of experimentation and a willing hand to try.

In this workshop, we let the paint do the work by tilting, blowing, wiping, pulling, twirling – the list goes on. Fluid art painting is fun and exciting, and this workshop will teach you the practical skills to make and create your own fluid artwork.

All materials are provided, and each participant will get one canvas, paints and all other materials required to create one large and beautiful pour painting in class. Get to know different techniques and experiment with the paints and materials in front of you. Choose from a range of paint colours so that they hang perfectly in your home or can be given to a friend. Please come dressed for mess.

Participants are able to collect their cured work two to three days later.

About the Tutor

Louise Lehtonen is a visual artist who works with a range of mediums. Born in Idaho, USA, Louise immigrated to Australia in the 70s. Her family settled on the Sunshine Coast and she fell in love with the colours of the Queensland coast and waters. She always loved art and had an affinity towards it.

Being a registered nurse dictates her part-time love affair with art and art was on the back burner for her up until 2012 when family gifted her a surf board for Mother’s day. She researched how to paint it, which started a new wave of passion and a renewed love for creating. She painted another surf board and it sold. She has continued painting, creating and selling since then.
