The alchemy of found object assemblage art

Enjoy an hour among curious found objects with Peta Lloyd, a visual artist, storyteller, hunter and gatherer, seeker of the curious and lover of the unwanted and the broken.  Experience the magic and process of assemblage art as Peta steps you through her process of creating her shadowboxes, box diaries and shrines.  

Learn a little about the range of mediums Peta uses in her artworks, including a peek inside her workbooks and sketchbooks. Discover what and who has influenced her as an artist.

After participating in this presentation you may never view discarded objects in quite the same way again!

About the Tutor

Peta Lloyd is a visual artist who incorporates printmaking, assemblage, encaustic and collage, into her shrines, artist books, assemblages, box diaries and wall narratives. 

Peta describes herself as a Bricoleur, creating artworks from a diverse range of treasures.  Incorporating old and new materials, Peta recycles, remakes, reuses, restores and re-stories as part of her creative process.  

Born in Mildura, Victoria Peta grew up in the Melbourne suburbs of Heidelberg and Glen Waverley, moving to Central Victoria in the 1980’s.  Peta now lives in Central Queensland and has resided there since 1990.

Peta inspires others to unleash their creativity, through teaching printmaking techniques, book arts, assemblage, mark making and encaustic art, locally, interstate and internationally. 

Her artworks are held in collections of the State Library Qld, Mackay Regional Gallery, Central Queensland University and Rockhampton Art Gallery.  Peta enjoys coordinating international and national collaborations of altered books, artists’ books and postcards. 

Peta exhibits her works throughout Australia.
