Collection Up Close

Sunday, 26 August 2018 | 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM

Did you know the Rockhampton Art Gallery Collection features more than 200 sculptures, ceramics, and items of fine silverware?

See some of these unique works of art in a one-off opportunity in Collection Up Close, a still life drawing workshop with an exclusive twist. Each session will feature a different array of items from the Collection, which you will have the opportunity to sketch and get to know in detail. Find out their history, learn about the artists, and use these as inspiration to bring your sketches of these artworks to beautiful life.

This is a rare and exciting opportunity to experience the Collection in a new way.

You don’t have to be an artist to appreciate these renowned works of art. Artist educator Erin Dunne will take you step by step through the basics of drawing still life and getting the most out of the items in front of you.

If you are a complete beginner, don’t panic. We provide the essential materials and will guide you through the drawing process; all you need to do is be eager and ready to have a go.

If you are a more experienced artist, feel free to bring your own materials and sketch pad and get ready to be wowed by the exquisite works of art on display.

This four-week course takes place every fortnight across August and September. Commencing Sunday 12th August and concluding Sunday 23rd September, Collection Up Close gives you the opportunity to experiment and work on your drawings in-between the workshops to really make the most of trying out new techniques.
