Laser Beak Man
He wears a cape, he fights crime, he has a red beak…it’s Laser Beak Man, super hero!
Between December 2018 and February 2019, Rockhampton Art Gallery showcased one of the largest exhibitions ever presented about the super hero. The exhibition "Laser Beak Man: the Adventures of" was full of laughs, fun, and even a few tears for the whole family.
Laser Beak Man was the creation of Tim Sharp, an artist with autism. Tim was diagnosed with autism when he was three years old. Such were his enormous difficulties that the doctor's advice was "that the best thing to do was put him away and forget about him." Rejecting the prognosis, his mother began intensive therapy and bravely Tim tried to overcome what was so terrifying and difficult for him.
Tim created Laser Beak Man at the age of 11 as a way to help him communicate with others. Laser Beak Man has been made into an animated TV series and adapted into a Helpmann Award-nominated play. Tim is now an internationally acclaimed artist and well known for the hope and inspiration he brings to so many people from around the world.
The exhibition was a great experience for audiences to immerse themselves in the world of Laser Beak Man and see the artwork of this talented young man who has overcome incredible odds.
Simply print out your chosen activity sheet (PDF) and colour it in! Below each colouring sheet you will see a video of how this artwork was brought to life during the exhibition, through the magic of Augmented Reality via the HP Reveal app.
