Position Title: Ceramics Project Volunteer


Volunteers play a vital role in the day-to-day activities of Rockhampton Art Gallery. Volunteers are committed to providing a highly professional and informative service. They require a strong commitment to customer service and a willingness to enhance their knowledge of arts and culture as well as Council procedures to assist them in their role. Gallery Volunteers should attempt to exceed customers’ expectations when responding to enquiries and processing sales.

As a Ceramics Project Volunteer you will:

  • Welcome visitors to the exhibition, Collection: Inside Out
  • Assist with the housing project which aims to box and protect the ceramic collection to support the collection relocation to the New Rockhampton Art Gallery
  • Gain an understanding and awareness of collection management in regional galleries
  • Receive practical, hands-on experience preserving the ceramic collection



  • 4 -7 hours each Tuesday from October 2019- April 2020


Required Qualities/Skills/Experience:

  • Well organised, committed, reliable and able to use initiative
  • Good verbal communication skills
  • Ability to ask questions and follow instructions
  • Able to work unsupervised once trained in a task.  You will still be supported and there will be staff available to help if you have questions.
  • Have a special interest in art history and culture or have completed studies in art, history or culture.
