Mount Morgan Artist in Residence

Advance Rockhampton, together with Rockhampton Art Gallery, is seeking artists to express interest in a 5-Day Artist in Residence opportunity for Mount Morgan. A total of three Artists in Residence will be held in 2018/19.

 Artists in Residence will be able to interact with an environment and community rich in history, providing a unique opportunity to delve into the area’s early success and discover a fascinating past. The program will provide professional development and networking opportunities for both visiting artists and the host community, and give an opportunity for the community to be invigorated through an exchange of ideas and new ways of working.

Council will provide the following:

• In-kind studio and furniture, located in the Mount Morgan School of Arts
• Travel up to $1,000 (available to artists that require travel over 200KM, redeemable upon supply of receipts and invoice)
• In-kind accommodation (7 nights up to $100 per night)
• Artist and program marketing/ outreach to local area
• Project officer support

The Artist will be asked to contribute the following:

• Be an Artist in Residence in Mt Morgan for 5-Day’s inclusive of weekends day

• Host two public workshops over the weekend (inclusive of Friday night, and Saturday or undertake a public outcome negotiated with Council)

• ‘Walk in’ opportunity for community to interact and ask questions each day from 10am – 12.00pm & 12.30pm – 2.30pm.

Artists can be:

• Both traditional or contemporary

• Showcasing artwork & product which can be available for sale by the artist.

• From the arts sector, including but not limited to performing arts and visual arts.

Eligibility:

• Must have an ABN or a completed Statement By Supplier form

• Must hold Public Liability for $20M

• Must have appropriate WHS and Insurance to be eligible and will be required to sight current tickets and licences

• Must hold Blue Card if undertaking children workshops

Qualifications/ Experience:

  • Judgement and Problem Solving • Ability to apply innovative solutions and ideas in the workplace
  • Authority & Accountability • Interpersonal communication skills • Knowledge and demonstrated commitment to the principles of a safe, welcoming and friendly environment

Relevant resume

Selection of images (10 only)

Description of workshops and any intention to sell goods.
