Professional learning at Rockhampton Art Gallery

The Queensland Art Gallery | Gallery of Modern Art (QAGOMA) is pleased to offer regional Queensland venues our new regional workshop program ‘Art as Exchange’.

This initiative seeks to offer arts and cultural learning outcomes via workshops with QAGOMA’s regional gallery partners. Workshops will craft, capture and transmit personal narratives via storytelling facilitated between people, regions and the arts sector, enhancing knowledge of issues and experiences arising, creative skills and capacity of participants.

In consultation with Regional Galleries Association Queensland (RGAQ), Queensland Curriculum and Assessment Authority (QCAA), Queensland Art Teachers’ Association (QATA) and Flying Arts Alliance (FAA), this program has been facilitated in sixteen regional centres across Queensland, over the last two years.

An invitation is extended to Rockhampton and surrounding arts and learning communities to partake in this program.

Facilitated by QAGOMA Learning staff, the discussion seek to stimulate engagement with regional galleries, strengthen state-wide advocacy for arts education, and identify research opportunities to evidence innovation.
The workshops is a: Community-based Queensland art education roundtable sessions

ARTS EDUCATION CONCEPTS
Digital Learning:
utilising technology to enhance informal and formal education
Cultural Learning: learning through and about culture, your own or another’s
Arts Learning: transforming abstract ideas into tangible outcomes through arts processes
Art and Wellbeing: enhancing access to, and the social impact of the arts on individuals and communities. 

As an initiative aligned to life-long learning programs, this round table discussion (3 hours program) is designed to create constructive dialogue between arts educators, arts workers and artists. The arts educators round table/workshop will explore four areas of practice (Arts Learning, Cultural Learning, Digital Learning and Arts and Wellbeing) to capture a point-in-time evaluation of successes, challenges and aspirations at play across participating regional communities. The project aims to engage the diverse expertise of arts educators through focusing on current practice and to collectively prepare for shifts in local, state and national learning landscapes.

OBJECTIVES
