Visual Fragments: New work by Carmen Beezley-Drake and Joanne Kerr
13 January 2017 – 4 March 2018
Visual Fragments: New work by Carmen Beezley-Drake and Joanne Kerr explores personal memories associated with place. Drawing on familiar scenes and fractured memories, the artists re-cast Rockhampton’s built and natural environments in watercolour, acrylic and collage.
‘Whether we travel a place every day or only occasionally, these spaces leave us with visual memories. Sometimes they are vivid images full of colour and shapes or they can be a glimpse of an image that lingers but alters with time.’ Artists Carmen Beezley-Drake and Joanne Kerr
Visual Fragments: new work by Carmen Beezley-Drake and Joanne Kerr is the eighth exhibition to grace the walls of the Merilyn Luck Gallery for Central Queensland artists. This initiative honours the contribution of Rockhampton Gallery supporter Mrs Merilyn Luck, who has long recognised the Gallery as ‘the cultural heart of our city’.
Carmen Beezley-Drake and Joanne Kerr are contemporary visual artists based in Rockhampton and Brisbane respectively.
