30 June 2018 – 26 August 2018
ReCollection: An exploration of the early history of Rockhampton and the surrounding region presents new work by contemporary artists Michelle Black, Clare Ford, Derek Lamb, Peta Lloyd and Belinda McGrath. Through diverse print-based techniques and processes, the artists' work responds to notions of place and history and is inspired by two publications; ‘The Early History of Rockhampton’ by JTS Bird, and ‘Early Rockhampton’ by JG Pattison.
ReCollection is the eleventh exhibition to grace the walls of the Merilyn Luck Gallery for Central Queensland artists. This initiative honours the contribution of Rockhampton Gallery supporter Mrs Merilyn Luck, who has long recognised the Gallery as ‘the cultural heart of our city’.
Michelle Black, Clare Ford, Peta Lloyd, and Belinda McGrath are contemporary printmakers based in Rockhampton. Derek Lamb is a contemporary letterpress printer based in Rockhampton.
This exhibition is presented with the assistance of a RADF Grant and support from Arts Central Queensland Inc. The Regional Arts Development Fund is a partnership between the Queensland Government and Rockhampton Regional Council to support local arts and culture in regional Queensland.
