Rockhampton Art Gallery provides opportunities to exhibit through awards, prizes and targeted opportunities. Applications are considered against a selection criteria and the Gallery program to ensure a diverse and balanced exhibition calendar is on offer throughout the year.




The Merilyn Luck Gallery is open to Central Queensland artists residing in the following regions and shires: Rockhampton, Livingstone, Gladstone, Banana, Woorabinda, Central Highlands, Isaac, Barcaldine, Blackall-Tambo, Longreach, Winton, Barcoo, Diamantina and Boulia. Expressions of Interest are now closed for the 2016 exhibition slots. The expression of interest round for 2017 are now open and will be assessed as they are received.






 The Bayton Award for Central Queensland artistsis a biennial, non-acquisitive prize celebrating the diversity and excitement of visual arts in Central Queensland. The 2017 Bayton Award applications are now open.



    Queensland’s richest art prize – the $50,000 Gold Award – continues its odyssey to capture the very brightest stars of the Australian contemporary art scene. Designed as an invitation award to consider the best in contemporary painting while simultaneously building a substantive collection, the most outstanding work or works by an artist will be awarded the $50,000 cash prize. The Gold Award is a national biennial event, presented at the Rockhampton Art Gallery, as a joint initiative of Rockhampton Art Gallery Philanthropy Board and Rockhampton Regional Council.
