Rockhampton Art Gallery is seeking artists to express interest in a Winter Artist Market at the Gallery in 2018. The markets will be held on the last Sunday of the months in April, May, June, July and August 2018.

The Winter Artist Markets will breathe life and creativity into the cultural precinct of Rockhampton. The Winter Artist Markets will:
• Celebrate central Queensland artists and artisans
• Publicly profile central Queensland’s contemporary arts practitioners
• Create commercial and retail opportunities for central Queensland artists and artisans 

For the Winter Artist Markets to come to life we are looking for your artworks, products and skills that celebrate, profile, create and showcase your art practice to the broader community.

Winter Artist Markets will…
• Provide a public outlet for regional artist and artisan made products and services.
• Be held on the last Sunday of the month throughout April, May, June, July and August 2018, as part of the Gallery’s array of public activities aimed to activate the cultural precinct.
• Provide a clear opportunity for engagement between regional artists and Rockhampton Art Gallery.

• From across the arts sector, including but not limited to visual arts and performing arts

ELIGIBILITY
• Both traditional and contemporary

• From across the arts sector, including but not limited to visual arts and performing arts

POSITION DESCRIPTION
Major Tasks:
• Set-up and clean-up of stall before and after the allocated market time of 9am – 12pm
• Operation of your own market stall for the market times of 9am – 12pm
• Undertake the merchandising of your market stall for the market times of 9am – 12pm
• Conduct all sales and transitions of your market stall for the market times of 9am – 12pm
• Follow existing Rockhampton Art Gallery work processes, procedures and systems
• Observe requirements of the WHS Legislation, relevant to the job and adhere to Rockhampton Regional Council Policies and Procedures regarding WHS

QUALIFICATION/EXPERIENCE
Essential
• Hold Public Liability for $10M
• Appropriate WHS and Insurance to be eligible and will be required to sight current tickets and licenses
Authority & Accountability
• Demonstrated ability to work with minimum supervision
• Demonstrated ability to prioritise workload
Specialist Knowledge & Skills
• Knowledge of OH&S and risk management practices
 Judgment and Problem Solving
• Ability to apply innovative solutions and ideas in the workplace
Authority & Accountability
• Interpersonal communication skills
• Demonstrated ability to work as an effective team member
• Knowledge and demonstrated commitment to the principles of a safe, welcoming and client friendly environment

COSTS
Stalls are offered in-kind by the Rockhampton Art Gallery.

SUBMITTING YOUR APPLICATION
Applications are accepted ongoing, and are assessed within 30 days of receipt. Applications to the opportunity should include:
a) contact details: name, address, telephone number, mobile number, email address
b) Current CV relevant to the opportunity (maximum three pages)
c) Outline of proposed art stall - Type of stall eg, size what will be primarily sold; Products for sale or activities to be undertaken; Price range of the product or service; Any furniture and signage that is being brought along as part of the stall ; Bump in and out time required; Primary contact person and contact details
d) Support images (up to 10) of the product of service being sold
e) Referees (minimum two)

For an application to be considered, the applicant must be completed in full and submitted. Applications to the opportunity may be lodged with Rockhampton Art Gallery either electronically via email or in hard copy format.
